Fundraising Event for Dubai's David Nicholson hosted by The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi
Thursday, 11th December 2008: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi and the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi were proud hosts of a charity event to raise money for a well known member of the Dubai Expat Community. David Nicholson, known to hundreds of parents and their children after nearly 14 years coaching both football and swimming in Dubai, was rushed into Intensive Care at the Modern International Hospital last week after suffering a massive heart attack.

A note from the organizers:
Tonight’s event to raise money for David Nicholson, has been a re-sounding success thanks to the generosity and hardwork of teams of people. David is still lying in intensive care at the Modern International Hospital critically ill so every penny raised tonight will be going towards his medical bills.
The man who made this evening possible, Mike Scully, manager of the Meridien Westin and Mina Siyahi hotels said: “It has been my great pleasure to give the Ball Room to this admirable effort to help David. He taught my children and thousands of others in Dubai, he is a much loved and respected member of our society and the response to his plight is the least we can do in return for everything he has done for us”.
He added: “Thank you to, Nanette Midwood, Tom Urquart for supporting the event alongside Rebel Star, the band from London, Sandro and his troop of dancers, Ibrahim and the Dubai Drummers, Cedric, Adrian Hayes, Rory McCraig, and last but not least David’s students who have written and performed a beautiful song dedicated to him.
We also need to thank African and Eastern for donating the alcohol and the huge number of donations for the raffle and auction, particularly Fiona Douglas who really pulled out all the stops to ring everyone.”
Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so by popping into Bookworm, the children’s bookshop in the Park n’Shop carpark.
