Thursday, 11th December 2008: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi and the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi were proud hosts of a charity event to raise money for a well known member of the Dubai Expat Community. David Nicholson, known to hundreds of parents and their children after nearly 14 years coaching both football and swimming in Dubai, was rushed into Intensive Care at the Modern International Hospital last week after suffering a massive heart attack.

New Route, New Race Hq For Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon - The Westin Mina Seyahi to Host World’s Richest Marathon. Visit the Dubai Marathon Facebook Page... Become a Fan, Get Involved!

The 2009 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon will have a brand new race route starting and finishing at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, the new headquarters for the world’s richest athletics event. To be staged on January 16, the US$2 million race over the classic 42km, 195m marathon distance will see the field – led by world record holder Haile Gebrselassie – tackle an “out and back” course from the new HQ with the turn to be made at the towering UAE flag at Union House.

A video from the Maktoum Sailing Trophy Dubai (to give you a preview of things to come this year!). The prestigious Maktoum Sailing Trophy 2008 is a Regatta of 10 Inshore Races and one offshore passage race for individual yachts from the Thursday 21st February 2008 to Friday 29th February 2008. The Organising Authority is the UAE Marine Sports Federation through the Mina Seyahi Dubai (a division of DIMC). The race will take place at the new Mina Seyahi Dubai (MSD), situated in the City of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
